Follow the steps below to use Microsoft Copilot’s AI (Artificial Intelligence) for Querying, Summarizing, or Analyzing any PDF document.

  1. Follow the steps below to use Microsoft Copilot’s AI (Artificial Intelligence) for Querying, Summarizing, or Analyzing any PDF document.

  2. Right-click on the PDF file and pick Open with > Microsoft Edge.

3. When viewing the PDF document in the Edge browser, pick the Copilot Icon in the upper right corner to launch Copilot.

4. Type your query in the box at the bottom of the Copilot screen. You can also choose from the example questions that Copilot offers. You also have options to set the conversation style based on the type of response you are looking for (More Creative, Balanced, or Precise). In order to have Copilot focus on the open PDF, you must type “Open Page” in your query to point Copilot to the current open webpage within Edge. Otherwise, Copilot may search elsewhere to respond to your query. In the example shown, the query typed is “Can you summarize the open page?

5. Copilot will now respond and process your request. You can pick “Stop Responding” if the response is processing and not what you expected. You can then try again with an adjusted query. When Copilot has completed the response, it will typically offer a few suggested follow-up queries as an option.
